Breakfast of Champions

Here is a Peregrine Falcon feasting on one of many juvenile gull carcasses on the beach in August 2006.

Black Oystercatcher

Haystack Rock has a resident breeding pair of Black Oystercatcher. They don't actually eat oysters, but rather mussels, barnacles, and wormy things as seen here.

Haystack Rock Awareness Program

In March 2006 I was hired by the Haystack Rock Awareness Program in Cannon Beach as a Rocky Shores Interpreter. I spent part of the spring and most of the summer talking with visitors about the rock and all the creatures that inhabit it. This is the view from the public stairway off Hemlock Street in April 2006.
